A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) Introduces Me To Fred Rogers And Oh… I’m So Glad

I never knew who Fred Rogers was and if you are not born in the States, chances are, you will not too. Inspired by Tom Junod’s “Can You Say… Hero” is about his meeting with Fred Rogers in 1998, but the Golden Globe-nominated film changed Tom’s name to Lloyd Vogel, but kept Fred as, well, Fred. The change is understandable since nothing “dramatic” happened in Tom Junod’s life after, but their encounter did have a deeper impact, as quoted from his recent article, “A long time ago, a man of resourceful and relentless kindness saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself.” Now, this is what A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood plot is about. The Grudge (2020) and Other Horror Reboots & Remakes That Scored Low on Rotten Tomatoes

With the new year comes a new list of remake/reboot films, and this first week of 2020 we got my childhood favourite’s horror remake, The Grudge. Now, I have no idea why would anyone in their right mind want to reboot this, but they did, and they have a pretty decent cast. However, as per today the ratings are in and The Grudge (2020) received a low score from world’s famous aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes.

Funnily, this is not the first time a horror remake scored low on the website. Want to know which of the other film tanked with the critics and moviegoers as well? Read on. Continue reading “The Grudge (2020) and Other Horror Reboots & Remakes That Scored Low on Rotten Tomatoes”

5 Actors You Need To Know In Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (2020), Aside From Robert Pattinson

Film maven Christopher Nolan always made news with his mind-bending, intellectual films like Inception, The Dark Knight trilogies and Interstellar. This year, we’ll see his much-anticipated film, Tenet, where the trailer was released on December 19 (and has gained 15 million views!). Although, not much has been revealed about the plot, based on the trailer, Tenet seems to tell a time-travel saga to prevent World War III.

The trailer offers mysterious ambiance, reverse car-chase, and splendid time-manipulation shots, but there are more things to discuss like its line-up of fantastic actors. Now, we all know Robert Pattinson is in Nolan’s latest flick, but what about the others? Continue reading “5 Actors You Need To Know In Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (2020), Aside From Robert Pattinson”

Was I Haunted By Valak After Watching The Nun (2018)?? [Review]

Hello movie freaks! (I am still testing this one…)

How was your weekend? Mine was alright, I went to a gallery and ended up watching The Nun.

I have actually never watched a film by myself (I sense your judgements…) so I decided to give it a shot with The Nun. Was it a smart decision? I have a mixed feelings about this, but anyway… I got a story for you. I sometimes worried about noisy audience while watching. But, the best thing happened last weekend. Beside me were this mom and two kids. I know what you are thinking “They must be noisy af”, but NO! The kids were actually QUIET the whole time. Can you imagine that? He wasn’t shouting nor was he crying. He did whisper something to his mum in the middle of the film, and do you know what the mum did? SHE SHUSHED HIM.

6 Best Scenes From Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

After the release of Avengers: Infinity War trailer last year, I was quite excited to see the third Avengers movie, although with a subtle caution since the second film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, was a big let down.

After premiering in Jakarta’s cinemas last Wednesday (Infinity War release date was April 25 in Indonesia!) and gained massive full-house run, I went to caught up with the hype. And you know what? It was pretty damn great! With $220 million budget, Infinity War sure does delivered what it promises: a grandeur, larger-than-life superhero film. Mainly thanks to its hefty ensemble, action sequence, hilarious one-liner and heart wrenching ending, Infinity War is a nice surprise.

The film works because of the moments in them, and I have picked six of the best scenes that will stay with me for a long time. And perhaps, it will for you too.

**Note: It goes without saying, beware of the SPOILERS!**
